Kreatr Case Study

KREATR Graphic Design Case Study by Jack Robinson

Case Study: KREATR

Who:

KREATR is a digital service that allows artists to mint physical artwork and certify it on the blockchain as an NFT (Non-Fungible Token). Artwork can be sold directly on the platform, delivered with museum-quality physical art along with certification and an embedded NFC (Near-Field Communication) chip which can be scanned with smartphones to direct the user to relevant information such as certification and current value of the specific piece.

Mission:

In a thriving market of digital artwork NFT trade, my goal with KREATR was to create a unique platform for artists and consumers. I was hired as an art director to prepare a startup company launch into an entirely new market.

Challenges:

Build a bridge between physical artwork and the blockchain and conveying this entirely new idea to an audience that didn’t know they wanted it yet. With such an ambitious and innovative idea, challenges came in no shortage.

Solution:

Through data research of the NFT space, and clean, thoughtful design, my aim was to build understanding and trust with artists and consumers on the idea of physical artwork on the blockchain.

Logo

The KREATR Logo is inspired by video games, sports, and all things nerdy. This idea was to identify with the lifestyle of street artists and action sports enthusiasts/photographers who grew up on comics and cartoons - our target audience.

Color

The color palette was intended to bring a fresh, new look to the digital artwork space with heavy usage of purples as the primary for backgrounds and backdrops and a 10% or less usage of yellow as the accent.

Mobile & Web Design

I worked with a talented team to bring my UI and Web elements to life in a clean, easily digestible way for users to join, learn and navigate through the platform.

Since we utilize the function of scannable NFC chips, a mobile app only made sense to transition the user from the physical world directly to the app.

Certificate of Authenticity

My goal was to create an official certificate that felt like something you wanted to keep and show off. Something that breaks away from the corporate look of traditional certificates.

The certificate comes with every shipped piece of art that is purchased on KREATR. It holds important information about the piece and artist, as well as an embedded NFC chip that is scannable with mobile smartphones. It is currently being shipped with all artwork purchases, some valued over $100,000.

Preparing for Launch Day

In preparation for the launch of KREATR, I was tasked with creating marketing material and merchandise to generate hype and spark a discussion.

The goal here was to design visually appealing material that was on-brand and eye catching in busy and highly distracting environments. These promotional items would be given away at parties/events in the NFT space.

Conclusion

During my time at KREATR, I was able to bring my ideas to life in a way that solidified the brand and brought global recognition and exposure to a startup company that nobody saw coming. With a massively successful launch and continually growing userbase, this was one of the most memorable projects that I am proud and privileged to present to you. Thank you for viewing.
